Reiki
What is the meaning of Reiki?
Reiki is Japanese for Universal Life Energy, or Spirit/Soul Energy. It is an energy that is found throughout all things. The word itself is comprised of two meaningful syllables or words- “Rei is the cosmic, spiritually guided universal aspect of energy; Ki is the fundamental life force, which flows and pulsates in each living entity.”
What is Reiki as a healing art?
Reiki is a natural, healing therapy which allows for more flow of life force energy. It is the practice of transferring this energy through a Reiki practitioner to a recipient. The recipient in veterinary medicine is your companion animal. The healing art of Reiki is known as Usui Shiki Ryoho. “Reiki revitalizes and re-energizes the body, mind and spirit enabling the wholeness of a recipient to be brought back into balance.”
How does Reiki work?
Similar to acupuncture, Reiki works with Qi and each individual’s Chakras (energy centers that serve as gateways for the flow of energy into the physical body). From these energy centers, Qi flows through a network of channels and meridians, supplying energy to the patient. Reiki helps improve this flow and direct the energy to assist in healing the ailment.
Reiki is a method that is complementary to your pet’s healing process. It can be used in conjunction with other allopathic holistic therapies, as well as other holistic therapies.
A Reiki sessions generally last from 15-45 minutes depending on the patient, intention and environment.
Dr. Araba is a certified Reiki Level 2 practitioner that has been practicing this system of healing for the last 3+ years.
